Warming up to this new life
Hola everyone. This week has been rough, just like the last. But the light at the end of the tunnel us getting brighter. I'm slowly turning into a missionary, at least I think. I'm slowly getting used to the activities.
How am I doing? I'm glad you asked. My legs have been upgraded. They made it past the point of, stop walking I'm at the brink of death. To thunder thighs, LITERAL TREE TRUNKS. Walking has never been easier. But there's a twist, my feet are dead. I would show a picture but you would probably throw up with the amount of scratches and blisters. I have seen a bunch of positive changes to my body. I have a beautiful tan!!! Until you lift up my sleeve and see a horrible farmers tan. My posture has also been changed. When I'm walking I do not slouch anymore. I'm starting to get a hold of the language. I can speak it about 65% of the time. But understanding is a completely different story. Haven't improved much there. The heat is crazy, it's not even summer and we are coming home looking like we just got out the shower. It's a sweat fest.
Let's get into my week!!!
Monday: First P-day in the field! Got up did all the stuff we normally do in the morning and had free time for mostly the rest of the day. I asked my comp what we can do on P-day. He said nothing, absolute nothingness. I was confused, there's always something to do. Whether it was climbing a Mountain or finding little hidden shops. But he still said no. I got to sleep the rest of the day, which isn't the worst. Also talked to my family, best day ever, and bought the stuff we needed for the week. Which mostly consist of cereal, Milk, and carne. Everyday I eat about 6 bowls of cereal, it's awesome. At night before bed, my comp tried giving me a motivational speech. At least that's what I think, I couldn't understand a Word he said.
Tuesday: Started the day off strong with a 30 minute walk to San Roque. Found a few family to teach about the restoration, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. They all seemed super interested to hear more. We walked home, which is the Hell walk. Really didn't seem like a Hell walk anymore, it seemed like a casual stroll with no shade. Later in the day I contacted someone on the street, and was super interested, and new a bunch if members. More people to teach.
Wednesday: Today work was extra short. At night we had to catch a bus to Córdoba for Zone conference on Thursday. We ate lunch at a members house, we had beef liver with rice. I would give it a 6/10, but I ate the whole thing because it was a member. After they brought out this potato salad. It was uncooked chicken, potatoes, hard boiled eggs, and mayonaise a bunch of mayonaise. I would give it a 8/10. After we caught the bus, we arrive at the mission home we were staying in, got to talk to a bunch of other Gringos just like me. It was awesome being able to talk a bit of English. Before bed we went and bought empenadas. Straight fire.
Thursday: ZONE CONFERENCE. Absolutely loved it. Great food, awesome talks, and fun practices. The cool part is I got to talk and see some of the people I came here with from the MTC. They had me bear my testimony because ima newby. We had a bomb breakfast and lunch. I ate 4 plates at lunch. It was mashed potatoes with chicken. But the mainly takeaway was the big lesson. Mosiah 3:19, the natural man is an enemy to God. Great talk. We caught a public bus home, most uncomfortable ride. Knees were stuck in the sweat in front and there was no way to turn off the AC.
Friday: During work In the morning we were walking, walking, and walking. Somehow ended up in this Tiny neighborhood of about 7 houses in the middle of the mountains. It was a hike, didn't help that it was hot as balls too. We were to lazy to make lunch, so we stopped at a restaurant on the way home. It was at a golf course, tried there pizza. Not good but not bad. I miss America pizza. In the afternoon we had a bunch of meetings with people. Lowkey a calm afternoon. We stopped at a new house and he had Matte for us with bread, me personally not a fan of Matte, but I drank it all because it was at a house.
Saturday: Today was rough because a lot of appointments fell through. Even our backups fell through. No success whatsoever today. But a positive is we played another baptism date for the guy I contacted on the street. To celebrate we got ice cream. Later that night we got bad news. That our boy Eziquiel spent all of his marriage money on drugs because his family fell apart this week. So we lost 2 baptism dates. We ended off the night at the Castillos, we had a Noche de Hogar. Fun games, spiritual lessons and scriptures, good food and Juice. Played games like charades and Uno. Super fun and positive night.
Sunday: woke up to Rain. Didn't know it could change from burning hot to almost freezing in a day. We walked to the train, then the train to church. Sat through sacrament, and had our normal missionary meetings after. Figured out that stake conference is next week, an hour away from us. Its gonna be a pain trying to get the newbies to go. We worker at night, few contacts, few lessons. I the pouring Rain, and freezing cold. Other than that our Sunday was super chill.
I don't have a lot of pics because we are only allowed to bring the phone out of the house, and it's my comps phone, he doesn't like pictures. Don't be afraid to contact me. I love hearing from you guys. My email is Tiago.fuller@missionary.org. mission work is Tiring, but it's slowly getting better. Keep me in your prayers
Ciao!!!!
