Dogs, and there lincoln logs

Image
Boy do I hate dogs. If you didn't know one of my biggest fears is dogs. Back at home I was constantly chased by them, bitten a few times. Other than that I think I'm getting better at this missionary work. In Argentina every person owns about 3-5 dogs, I have yet to see a family not own a dog. There's also dogs that don't have owners on the streets, they are everywhere. When you walk by they stand up, start barking, then growl, and last but not least they run up to you and smell your calves. Usually after they walk away, but some go in for a bite. My comp and I almost got bit 4 times this week. One thing you can do to avoid dogs is crouching down and act like your picking up a rock. They see this, get scared, and run away back to where they were sleeping. Dogs know that when you perform that action they are gonna get hit by a rock, and it makes them scared. We were walking and saw this dog run up to a house and start fighting with another dog through a gate. The owner...

Warming up to this new life

Hola everyone. This week has been rough, just like the last. But the light at the end of the tunnel us getting brighter. I'm slowly turning into a missionary, at least I think. I'm slowly getting used to the activities. How am I doing? I'm glad you asked. My legs have been upgraded. They made it past the point of, stop walking I'm at the brink of death. To thunder thighs, LITERAL TREE TRUNKS. Walking has never been easier. But there's a twist, my feet are dead. I would show a picture but you would probably throw up with the amount of scratches and blisters. I have seen a bunch of positive changes to my body. I have a beautiful tan!!! Until you lift up my sleeve and see a horrible farmers tan. My posture has also been changed. When I'm walking I do not slouch anymore. I'm starting to get a hold of the language. I can speak it about 65% of the time. But understanding is a completely different story. Haven't improved much there. The heat is crazy, it'...

First Week in My New Home

Mon 11/11/2024 5:03 AM Oh man! This week has been one of the hardest things I have been through. I clearly misunderstood when my family and friends were talking about how hard the first week would be. It was pretty rough. Tuesday: woke up at 4:30 to catch a flight at 9:10. It was a 9 hour flight to Buenos Aires. We got 2 meals on the flight breakfast and dinner. They were both mid but I still ate them all. There's not really much to do on an airplane when your a missionary. I downloaded a bunch of conference talks and Church music to listen to. But that only got me through about 3 hours of the flight. My friend started talking to this lady, they started talking about the gospel, she seemed really interested and was asking a bunch if questions. We answered and handed her a BOM. She loved us. When we landed we got our bags and found the mission president of Buenos Aires. They took us to a super nice hotel and we got comfy. Wednesday: we ate dinner at the hotel...

Off To the Field!

This week has been wild. Probly because I am sitting in the airport waiting for my 9 hour flight. knowing that I could be teaching people of Argentina the gospel in under 48 hours is crazy to think about. This week has gone by the fastest. I am finally starting to believe what my parents were meaning when they said that missions fly by. I felt like I got to the MTC yesterday. Lets get started. Tuesday: Sadly it's my last Pday at the MTC. Like always on Pday we went to the temple. We had sealings on the schedule. I was a little freaked because I have never done them before. Don't worry is was family sealings. When we got in there I had no idea what to do. Luckily i went second, and it was pretty easy. After we had temple service, in the basement of the temple. We were helping fold laundry. Half the bus ride back was awesome, the other half really wasn't. What I mean, while we were driving back the bus driver forgot the the radio was on. The radio was playing a mixture of spa...
